CHILLI: ROCOTO

(CAPSICUM PUBESCENS)

HEAT LEVEL: HOT

COLD TOLERANT

Often confused with the “rocoto manzano” the rocoto is actually the spicier of the two.

Hailing from Peru, this cold hardy chili shrub produces bright red, pear shaped pods which grow to 2-3 inches in length and contain black seeds.

best prepared and enjoyed fresh as the thickness of the pod walls present a challenge to drying this chili.
