Also known as California and Magdalena Chilli. Pick while still green, and dry down to a red colour, and you have a “chile seco del norte”. A very mild chilli used widely in USA cuisine. This vigorous grower has an upright tendency growing to 80cm and producing tapered dark green fruits which turn red as they mature. Very versatile in the kitchen; they can be enjoyed fresh, dried, cooked or raw!

SOIL PREFERENCES

PH 5.5 – 7

Rich, well-drained friable soil.

Avoid high nitrogen fertilisers.

GROWING TIPS

Sow in trays 5mm deep. 10 – 21 days till germination.

Transplant 50cm apart in full sun and keep moist.

Avoid high nitrogen fertilisers or leaf growth will be promoted over fruit.

Frost tender.
