American modern heirloom.

Introduced to Australia in 2012 by Margot white.

Royal Tasmania botanical gardens.

Produces high yields of medium size round, meaty fruits with few seeds.

Particularly good for canning.

Fruit often set all at once.

WHEN TO PLANT

Cool Climate: AUG, SEP, OCT, NOV, (INSIDE) Plant out after risk of frost when soil temperature reaches 16ºC+.

Temperate: SEP-DEC Transplant or direct sow outside only when soil temperatures reach 16ºC+.

Sub – Tropical: (FROST FREE ZONES) MAR, APR, MAY, JUN, JUL, AUG, SEP,

(Can be grown year-round but risk of disease increases when sown in hotter months.)

Tropical: Late April to the beginning of July.

 

SOIL PREFERENCES

PH 5.8-7

Well-drained rich soil.

GROWING TIPS

Raise in seedling tray, sow 6mm deep and keep moist.

 Remove bottom leaves when planting and plant deeply to promote strong growth.

Plant 1m apart.
