SPRING ONION: WELSH ONION / JAPANESE BUNCHING

(ALLIUM FISTULOSUM)

Not actually Welsh, but rather an east Asian variety!

The green stems posses  a mild, sweet flavour which compliments a wide variety of dishes from salads to stir-fries, soups, and dumplings.

This is a vigorous and pest resistant variety which grows best in full sunlight but will tolerate shade.

SOIL PREFERENCES

PH 6.5 – 7.0

Well-drained soil.

GROWING TIPS

Direct sow or seedling tray 5mm deep and keep moist.

Transplant or thin to 15 – 20cm.

Plant deeply to encourage stalk development.

Liquid fertilise regularly.
