EGGPLANT: BLACK BEAUTY

(SOLANUM MELONGENA)

Tender, tasty purplish-black fruits. Excellent breaded or fried. Plants produce 4 to 6 large fruits, or more if kept harvested and well-watered. For best quality, harvest while its skin is still glossy.

SOIL PREFERENCES

PH 5.5 – 6.5

Rich, well-drained, friable soil.

GROWING TIPS

Sow in pots, 6mm deep.

10-14 days to germination, transplant 45cm apart and keep moist to avoid bitterness.

Pick before the seeds turn brown and while the skin is shiny and firm.

If growing for seed leave on the Bush as long as possible.
